Mrs. American Renaissance 2014 – Erica Roquemore made an appearance on October 12 at the Atlanta Merrell Down & Dirty Obstacle Race. At this race she volunteered at the Operation Gratitude tent and was responsible for recruiting people to write letters to our deployed troops and veterans, selling merchandise, and manning the rock climbing wall. As a military spouse (her husband serves as a pilot with the South Carolina National Guard) supporting our great nations brave soldiers is a cause that is very near and dear to Erica’s heart. Operation Gratitude is a non-profit organization that annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation to deployed troops, veterans, wounded warriors and caregivers. It was truly an honor for Erica to donate her time to this wonderful organization. Wearing her crown and sash at this event allowed Erica to interact on a more personal level with many younger kids. Younger children would approach the tent to ask her about her crown and would end up writing a letter or drawing a picture for a deployed soldier. Erica knows that soldiers will smile and feel closer to home when they receive a hand written letter or picture from a child and grateful citizens. https://www.operationgratitude.com/#
